Actually you are incorrect. When there are open calls for films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, it costs non-union talent $2.00 (polaroid charge) IF they don't have their own picture when they come in. If you actually register with Sande Alessi Casting in Los Angeles you are charges a ONE TIME fee of $25.00 and are in their system for life and have access to any of the many feature films and television shows they cast for.
Please make sure before you slander a company you have your facts.

Yes they do charge fees, even for just acting they charge for photos, 1 shot is $10.00, if they had to shoot more shots, you would have to pay for each shots. A sword training is $90.00 to $100.00 for a day, this is for the Pirates/Caribbean.

The casting director Sande Alessi for Pirates Of The Caribbean is charging for extras in the film, you have to pay for a photo shot, registration, etc. For a non union actor in the film their pay is I think $69.00 for a scene. And I think you pay $10.00 to be on the list for one year. This suppose to be a job for people looking for work and not having us pay them, we ar the less fortunate. They are paying us so little, compair to the main actor that makes more money then us like in the thousands, or billions.
Even those short films that they make for extras, we don't get paid, but if the short film goes on TV the directors makes alot of money, while we whom acted for Free don't make any money.

Actually, Extras are paid Employees, not Contractors. The difference is that the production's payroll company withholds taxes and sends you a W-2, which technically makes you an employee. Contractors would get paid a lump sum for a job, then it is the contractor's responsibility to pay taxes their own taxes to the fed and state.

In certain markets, such as LA and New York, extras casting agencies DO charge registration fees, around $20 or so.

It is 1:55 PM as I write this, at this point in time very few people have emailed to save a seat on the "bus". While I am grateful for this forum to spread the word, It would be very helpful if the facts were checked. My experience on the set of the Dilemma was not as good as MJ but vary cool. I was the stand-in for Guy Van Swearingen (Saul) in the intervention scene. Mr.Howard is vary hands on by this I mean the stand-ins ran through the scene the way Mr. Howard envisioned the scene. He made us feel needed. I guess so we where part of the crew. Well after a few rehearsals Mr.Howard decided I should do the part where Saul gives a hug. With no stand-in around for to hug Ron stepped in he called action. I did my walk up to him gave Mr.Howard a hug and a pat on the back! I still walk about it how I hugged Ron Howard the Director. A photo from the sound stage of me standing in for Saul.
